Welcome to the Elements of Automated Test Design course!
This is a theory-focused course. Instead of building a single project, you will learn the design principles that make automated tests fast, robust, secure, clear, and maintainable, with practical "what to do" and "what not to do" examples you can apply to any project and tool.
Below you will find everything you need to know to make the most of the course content.
Concept and examples 👨🏫
At the beginning of each lesson, I describe the element of test design being addressed.
👨🏫 For example: writing clear and specific assertions.
In most lessons, I bring the most common situations found in the world of test automation and present examples of what to do and what not to do, with short code snippets. The snippets mostly use Cypress and JavaScript, but the principles apply regardless of language or tool.
Links to official documentation
Throughout the lessons, whenever a tool, command, or concept is mentioned, you will find links to the official documentation. Use them whenever you want to go deeper into a specific topic.
👨🏫 The lessons are intentionally concise and focused on the design principles. The links are there for when you want the full details.
Quizzes
At the end of most lessons, there is a quiz with questions about the concepts covered in that lesson.
👨🏫 You must score 100% in the quiz to unlock the next lesson.
Instructor tips 👨🏫
Throughout the lessons, you will see the instructor emoji (👨🏫). When you see it, it is just a reminder or a helpful tip.
Show the world what you learned
Most lessons include a Show the world what you learned section at the end, with a ready-made post for you to share your progress on LinkedIn.
👨🏫 Remember to tag me in your post so I can celebrate your progress with you!
