1. Introduction

Welcome to our learning platform, operated by Talking About Testing. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you about how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data: Includes first name, last name, and username.
  • Contact Data: Includes email address. This may be collected when you create an account; on our free courses, when you provide your name and email as you begin the course, which we use to send you updates and to issue your certificate of conclusion; or when you subscribe to new-course announcements from our home page, where we store your name, your email, and the language you were browsing in.
  • Billing Data: Includes your physical address, collected upon payment as required for legal and tax compliance.
  • Financial Data: Includes payment card details (processed securely by Stripe).
  • Technical Data: Includes internet protocol (IP) address, login data, browser type and version, and operating system.
  • Usage Data: Includes information about how you use our website, products, and services (e.g., course progress).

3. How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • To register you as a new customer.
  • To provide the course content and track your progress.
  • To process and deliver your order including managing payments, fees and charges.
  • To notify you about changes to our terms or privacy policy.
  • To deliver relevant content to you and measure or understand the effectiveness of the content we serve to you.
  • To send you course-related updates, educational content, and promotional communications, including to learners on a free course who provide their name and email, and to announce new courses to anyone who subscribed from our home page.

4. Disclosure of Your Personal Data

We may share your personal data with third-party service providers who provide services to us, such as:

  • Supabase: For authentication and database services.
  • Stripe: For payment processing.
  • Vercel: For hosting the platform and for aggregated visit statistics that use no cookies.
  • Sentry: For monitoring errors, so we can fix what breaks.
  • Google: For measuring advertising campaigns through Google Tag Manager and Google Ads, and only if you accept advertising cookies (see Cookies and Similar Technologies below).

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We keep their use to a minimum:

  • Strictly necessary: Cookies set by Supabase to keep you signed in, and a NEXT_LOCALE cookie that remembers the language you picked. The platform cannot work without them, so they do not ask for your consent.
  • Preferences and progress: Your browser's local storage keeps your theme, your course progress, your cookie choice, and similar settings you make on the platform. It stays on your device and is not used to track you.
  • Analytics: Vercel Web Analytics counts page visits in aggregate, without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Advertising (only with your consent): Google Tag Manager and Google Ads cookies, which measure whether our ads lead to a visit or a purchase. They load only after you choose Accept in our cookie banner. If you choose Reject, or do not answer, nothing is requested from Google.

We do not run Google Ads campaigns yet, but we plan to. We ask for your permission now, so the choice is already yours when they start.

You can change your choice at any time from , also found in the site footer. Choosing Reject removes Google's cookies from your browser.

6. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know.

7. Your Legal Rights

Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, transfer, or to object to processing. If you subscribed to our new-course announcements, you can ask to be removed from that list at any time by contacting us at the address below, and we will remove you. Where we rely on your consent, as we do for advertising cookies, you can withdraw it at any time.
